Fluffy’s CAVE IGS PGM PCBS Round 2

Back in 2022, I built Fluffy’s CAVE pcbs and those still work great. Build can be found below

Since I still had some extra pcbs prior to Fluffy releasing out the Gerber files, I figured why not build them again and use the spare pcbs/parts I had.

The biggest difference with this build is I will be using nnap’s 3D printed PGM Case which are SO much better than the original PGM case because this design actually fits socketed EPROMs which make it easier for swapping things around and/or troubleshooting. The original build used OEM cases so I had to directly solder the EPROMs after burning the roms

I was lucky enough to get hooked up by coinfeeder who printed me both version of the case – a heat set insert version and a through hole version.

The through hole makes the build of the case easier, but the heat set insert is “cleaner” in my opinion. So I requested more through hole versions to be printed – in Magenta, so it’s something different!

I’ve never worked with heat set inserts before, but these things are amazing and are relatively easy to install. I didn’t have the proper bit for it, I just used a conical tip for my iron on quite a low temp and it slowly went into place with very little force.

Quick test after the threads were installed and they were perfect!

The rest of the build follows the same process as last time with the exception of installing sockets

ROM burning takes the longest, but once all ROMS are burnt, it’s a simple enough process. All ROMS installed

Rinse and repeat and you’ll soon have 3 lots carts completed and it’s not “officially complete” unless the EPROMs have labels on them 😀

Screws fastened, game labels installed – there’s no turning back

Credit fed through Ketsui just to confirm everything is working as expected. She works perfect!!
