I was trying to clear out some surplus arcade stuff and this CPS2 was the first one on the chopping block. She’s not in the greatest condition externally, but I knew this was a revision 7 board would make a perfect darksoft multi donor.
Since I don’t like to just randomly sell crap without me going over the pcb, I thought, hell why not give this a look and see the state of the pcb…. Lucky I did as I would’ve been embarrassed as hell selling this as it was.
Got the security torx screws out… and I was surprised at out filthy the pcb was. I have no idea how it got to this state, but lets say it was FILTHY!!!

The bathing process
- Spray with simple green and let it sit there for 5-10 mins then scrub with a toothbrush and do a light wash
- let it “soak” in a hot soapy solution for another 10 mins, brush off grime and then rinse.
- Hair dry for a good 10 mins across the pcb, inspect and see if there’s any grime left, if there is repeat the previous steps
I think I went through this process 3 times before I was completely satisfied with the results
Once all that was done, I let it bake in the sun for a couple of days so I knew it was “dry”. Now the pcb’s look brand new!!
After re-installing the roms, I did a good old close my eyes and have the fingers crossed when I turned her on and fortunately for me, everything works as expected!! 
I’m not really one to wash pcbs, but this one was really filthy and I’m glad it’s turned out well.
