Tekken 8 has been out for a while and the Namco Noir has always been known as the “Tekken Cab” since T6 so it was only natural that I made the Noirs T8 compatible.
Since the PS5 is my primary way to play SF6, I wanted another dedicated setup so I had no choice but to purchase another PS5. As much as I wanted the PS5 Pro to become my main setup for SF6 or even a gaming pc, I couldn’t justify the cost. It was a great time to look for a second hand PS5 as people were offloading their consoles in preparation of the Pro.
Next order of business was the controls. I had previously purchased GP2040 based pcbs with the magic boot passthrough to allow me to use the pcb on a ps5. These cost me half the price of a Brook UP5 module so at the time it was a “no brainer”
Since my Noirs already had Brook Universal PCBs, the thought of rewiring everything to switch over to the GP2040 jumped into the CBF basket so I just ordered UP5’s as there was a store on ebay that had them for a lot cheaper than normal.
A couple of weeks later, hey arrived
Install on these is an absolute breeze, the longest part is soldering the header in (if you don’t have a brook that has the headers soldered)
Lastly, you can’t have a dedicated cab with dedicated artwork
Printed off some art that got made up by a friend of mine to put the finishing touches.
And of course, the obligatory pic to show it all working with the latest artwork
